Arcus Console Shelf

The Arcus Console Shelf is the half-moon member of Nanna Aakjær's Arcus family: a deeper oak ledge designed to work as a small console in the hallway or as a floating bedside table.

It shares the Arcus profile, the coved edge Jørgen Aakjær Jørgensen gave his 1950s coffee tables, in FSC-certified solid oak from Aakjaer. At 17.7 by 8.7 inches it is useful without taking floor space: by the front door it takes keys and post, and beside the bed it leaves nothing underneath to vacuum around.

Common Questions

Can I use it as a bedside table?
Yes. Aakjaer designed the Arcus Console to work both as a hallway console and as a bedside table. Mount it at mattress height or a little above, and it holds a book, a glass of water and a phone.

How much can it hold?
Aakjaer rates the Arcus Console for up to 11 lb (5 kg). That is plenty for keys, a small tray, a vase or a stack of books, but don't lean on it or use it as a seat.

How is it mounted?
It comes with a concealed metal bracket that fixes to the wall and disappears inside the shelf, so no hardware shows. Use screws and wall anchors suited to your wall type before loading it.
