Alder Side Table

Patricia Urquiola's side table comes in four Matek blends — Sand, Light Green, Earth Grey and Terracotta.

Matek is Mater's press-molded composite of waste fibre and a plastic binder; the Alder blends pair biodegradable plastic with coffee-shell waste in Sand and Earth Grey, and with wood waste in Light Green and Terracotta. Mater press-molds each blend in Latvia into a single 17.7-inch square body standing 19.8 inches high, specified for indoor use, and takes Matek furniture back at end of life to recycle. That height puts it beside a bed or a lounge chair rather than a sofa. It is the most colorful piece of the Alder range in our Mater collection.

Dust with a soft, dry cloth; clean with a cloth wrung out in lukewarm water and a mild detergent; use trivets under hot objects; avoid abrasive cleaners, direct sunlight and prolonged humidity

Does the Alder Side Table work as a bedside table?
Yes — at 19.8 inches high it sits just below most mattress tops, and the molded Matek surface wipes clean with a damp cloth. Keep it indoors and away from prolonged moisture.
