Alder Stool

Equally a perch, a side table and a plant stand, Patricia Urquiola's stool is press-molded from biodegradable Matek.

Matek is Mater's press-molded composite of waste fibre and a plastic binder; the Alder blends pair biodegradable plastic with coffee-shell waste in Sand and Earth Grey, and with wood waste in Light Green and Terracotta. Mater molds the compound in Latvia into one sculptural 14.2-inch body at a chair-like 17.4-inch seat height, specified for indoor use. Matek is water-repellent and highly durable by Mater's own account, and the company takes Matek furniture back at end of life to recycle into new pieces. It is the smallest piece of the Alder collection in our Mater collection.

Dust with a soft, dry cloth; clean with a cloth wrung out in lukewarm water and a mild detergent; use trivets under hot objects; avoid abrasive cleaners, direct sunlight and prolonged humidity
