Arne Jacobsen Roman Wall Clock White/Black

The Roman-numeral dial dates to 1937 and later went up in the tower at Aarhus City Hall.

Jacobsen used this face across several buildings — Stelling House first, then Aarhus and Søllerød, later Rødovre — and Rosendahl Design Group produces it today from the original drawings. Domed mineral glass over an aluminium case, in four diameters. Browse the full Arne Jacobsen Clocks range. Rosendahl Design Group is a Certified B Corp.

Common Questions

When was the Roman clock designed?
1937, according to the Arne Jacobsen archive. The face went on to appear in Stelling House and later in Søllerød and Aarhus town halls in 1942, which is why 1942 is sometimes quoted.

Are the Roman numerals easy to read at distance?
Yes — Jacobsen drew them as thin serif strokes with generous spacing, and at 11.4 in or 18.9 in the dial stays legible across a large room.

Can I mix it with the other Jacobsen faces?
They share the same case, lens, and proportions, so a Roman clock hangs comfortably beside a Station or City Hall dial — only the face changes.

Arne Jacobsen Clocks +

Arne Jacobsen (1902–1971) is one of the most influential figures in 20th-century Scandinavian modernism. His clock designs — Bankers, Station, City Hall and Roman — were originally drawn for Denmark's National Bank, Aarhus City Hall and Rødovre Town Hall in the 1930s–70s and remain in continuous production. Each piece is built around an aluminum case with mineral-glass lens. Produced under license by Rosendahl Design Group, a Certified B Corp.

Care Guide +

Wipe Arne Jacobsen clocks with a dry, lint-free cloth — never use water, glass cleaner or solvents on the aluminum case or mineral-glass lens. Replace the AA battery (table clocks) or C-cell (large wall clocks) once a year to prevent leakage. Hang wall clocks on a single secure screw and avoid mounting in direct sunlight, bathrooms or near heat sources, which can affect movement accuracy.
