Hemingway Desk - Black Linoleum and Oak

Bent Hansen Studio designed the Hemingway desk in 2016: a 47-inch writing desk on a black steel trestle, sized for a studio apartment or a corner of the living room.

At 20.1 inches deep, Hemingway is a compact desk from Bent Hansen that reads as furniture rather than office equipment. This one has a black linoleum top edged in oiled oak, matt-lacquered oak legs and a black powder-coated steel trestle. Bent Hansen notes that linoleum is antistatic and that light scratches and stains fade over time as the surface regenerates, which suits a desk that gets leaned on daily. Bent Hansen offered a power socket as an add-on; this is the standard desk without it.

Common Questions

Is the power socket included?
No. Bent Hansen sold a power socket with USB-A and USB-C as an optional extra, and this is the standard Hemingway without it. Plan to run a lamp or laptop charger to a nearby outlet.

Does it arrive assembled?
It ships flat in a single carton of about 49 x 29 x 6 in, weighing 57 lb packed, so expect to attach the legs and trestle. Bent Hansen doesn't publish assembly instructions online.

Can I return it?
No. The Hemingway desk is final sale and can't be returned or exchanged, so please check the dimensions first. Report any transit damage or defect within 48 hours of delivery.
