Ayush Kasliwal's Bowl Table, retold in Matek: coffee shells and wood waste pressed into a bowl-shaped top instead of turned from timber.

Matek is Mater's own compound, and it works by recycling fiber-based waste together with recycled plastic waste under heat and pressure. The waste stream sets the color, so Coffee Waste Black and Coffee Waste Light carry roasted-shell flecking while Wood Waste Grey reads cooler and more uniform. Mater builds the table for disassembly, meaning the top and the powder-coated steel legs come apart into single materials at the end of use. It is made in Latvia and sits alongside the turned wood originals in our Mater collection.

Matek is Mater's patented composite. Fiber waste, either coffee shells or wood waste depending on the finish, is bound with recycled plastic waste and press-molded into a dense panel that needs no lacquer.

Is the Recycled Edition as sturdy as the wood Bowl Table?
Yes. The press-molded Matek top is dense and hard-wearing, made for daily side-table duty, and it sits on the same detachable steel leg set used across the Bowl family.

Can it be recycled at the end of its life?
Mater states that the Bowl Table Waste Edition is designed for disassembly, so each component separates in its pure form and can go back into a new production cycle rather than to landfill.
