CHALLENGE Dining Armchair
The Hamburg studio MHK named CHALLENGE for the problems its construction had to solve.
Peter Maly, Birgit Hoffmann and Christoph Kahleyss wanted a crisp, graphic cushion shape, a frame carved thin but kept strong, and comfort that doesn't rely on bulk. The result is a slender, sharp-edged armchair: a solid walnut frame holding a fully upholstered shell, with the leather stitched on the surface. CondeHouse builds it at its factory in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, and pairs it with the HAKAMA table; both are in the CondeHouse collection.

Common Questions
Will the arms fit under my table?
The arms sit 25 3/4 in from the floor. Measure from the floor to the underside of your tabletop or apron: if that is higher than 25 3/4 in, the chair tucks in; if not, it stops at the arms.
Which upholstery should I choose?
MG is full-grain leather with a pigment-finished, embossed surface that CondeHouse makes to resist stains and scratches. BQ is a softer, semi-aniline full-grain leather. Tonica is a woven fabric and the lower-priced option.
How quickly does it ship?
Quick-ship chairs in walnut are in stock at CondeHouse USA in California and leave the warehouse within about a week of your order, while stock lasts. Other woods and upholstery are made to order in Japan in about 16 weeks.
