Ocean 4 Person Dining Table
The Ditzels drew this slatted outdoor table in 1955; Mater now presses its four-person top from recovered plastic waste rather than virgin polymer.
Copenhagen design house Mater reissued the Ocean Collection around five different recovered waste streams; the remake won Best Net Gain at the 2019 Wallpaper* Design Awards. Black and Sand slats are ocean waste plastic with recycled polypropylene; Green is pharma plastic waste, including discarded insulin pens; Burnt Red and Dusty Blue are post-consumer e-waste. The partly recycled steel tube frame wears a gunmetal powder coat, matching the chairs and benches in our Mater collection. The collection is designed for disassembly, and Mater sells replacement slats in all five colors.

Slats of recycled plastic waste and recycled polypropylene (PP) — ocean waste plastic in Black and Sand, pharma plastic waste in Green, post-consumer e-waste in Burnt Red and Dusty Blue; steel tube frame, partly recycled, gunmetal powder coat

Common Questions
How many people does the four-person Ocean table seat?
Four. The top runs 55.1 inches long by 27.6 inches deep at 29.1 inches high, which takes two Ocean Chairs per long side or one Ocean Bench along one edge.
What is each color actually made from?
Black and Sand slats are ocean waste plastic with recycled polypropylene. Green is recycled pharma plastic waste, including discarded insulin pens. Burnt Red and Dusty Blue are post-consumer e-waste.
What happens if a slat gets damaged?
Mater sells replacement table lamellas with fixing screws in all five colors. The table is designed for disassembly, so a single slat can be swapped without tools beyond a 4 mm driver.
