Eda Console

Alain van Havre designed the Eda console for Ethnicraft's 2026 collection: 51.5 inches of solid mahogany, 15.5 inches deep, made to sit against a hallway wall or behind a sofa.

The Eda console from Ethnicraft keeps the collection's softened geometry at a scale that fits an entryway. The top and the fixed lower shelf are the same 1-inch solid mahogany, and the rounded legs run straight into both so the piece reads as one continuous form rather than a frame with boards on it. Ethnicraft finishes the mahogany with a PFAS-free polyurethane varnish in a rose brown that reads warmer than walnut and cooler than teak, and the timber is SVLK wood-legality certified. It is 30.5 inches high, a comfortable height for keys and a lamp, and the shelf takes 44 pounds of books or baskets. It arrives assembled on adjustable glides.

Will the Eda console fit behind a sofa?
At 30.5 inches high it sits level with or just below most sofa backs, and the 15.5-inch depth keeps it slim. Check your sofa's back height first; the Ease sofa, for example, is 28.5 inches.

Does it need assembly?
No. The console ships fully assembled in a single carton with adjustable glides fitted, so you only need to level it. Two people should carry it; it weighs 56 pounds.

How much weight can the shelf and top take?

For regular dusting, use a dry cloth. For cleaning or in case of a spill, use a damp cloth and natural soap. Wipe in the direction of the grain. Do not use soap containing detergent or other chemicals. Dry with a soft clean cloth to prevent spotting.
