Eternity Counter Stool

Space Copenhagen's Eternity shell on a 27.3-inch counter seat, with about 4,330 grams of waste diverted per piece.

The organic shell is press-molded from Matek, Mater's patented composite of post-consumer e-waste plastic recycled with coffee-shell or wood waste, and it sits on a 20 percent recycled metal frame in a gunmetal finish. Mater shapes it deep enough that the stool is as comfortable as a dining chair, which is what counter seating usually gets wrong. Mater, the Copenhagen design house founded in 2006, presses its Matek in a hydropower-run facility, and this stool brings the Eternity line in our Mater collection up to island height.

Common Questions

Is this counter height or bar height?
Counter height. The seat sits at 27.3 inches, which fits a standard 36-inch kitchen counter or island. For a 40 to 43-inch bar, order the Eternity Bar Stool with its 29.1-inch seat instead.

What is the seat made of?
Matek, Mater's patented composite of post-consumer e-waste plastic recycled with coffee-shell or wood waste. The color names the waste stream: coffee shells for Light, Dark and Black, wood waste for Wood Waste Grey.

Is it comfortable enough to linger on?
Mater shapes the shell to wrap the sitter the way the Eternity dining chair does, so it holds up to a long meal at the island rather than a quick perch. There is no footring cushion or upholstery in this version.
