A90 Boderne – Display cabinet

Ceramics, glassware, the things worth looking at — the mid-height Boderne keeps a collection near eye level without crowding the room.

Rasmus Appel, an industrial designer from Bornholm, based the Boderne on the island’s oak dinghies, borrowing their fine proportions and joinery for FDB Møbler. This version stands 50 inches high in nature lacquered oak, with shelves tested to 44 lbs and several options for positioning and use.

Common Questions

What makes the Boderne different from a plain cabinet?
Its construction — Appel modeled the proportions and joints on Bornholm’s traditional oak dinghies, so the cabinet reads as crafted woodwork rather than a box, while still offering practical shelf storage.

Can the shelves handle heavy dishes?
Yes — each shelf is tested to 20 kg, about 44 lbs, which covers stacked dinnerware, serving pieces, or rows of glassware with room to spare.

Care Guide +

FDB Møbler furniture is crafted from FSC-certified wood, powder-coated steel, and OEKO-TEX textiles. Keep away from direct heat and sunlight. Dust with a soft cloth; clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. For lacquered surfaces, avoid harsh chemicals. For oiled wood, re-oil periodically. For upholstery, vacuum regularly and address spills promptly. Lift furniture rather than dragging across floors.
