C64 Shaker Dining Table - 70.9"

The cross-shaped legs were too bold to manufacture in 1950, so Børge Mogensen's Shaker table waited decades for production.

Mogensen designed this table for FDB Møbler in 1950, returning to a Shaker type he kept in his own dining room, but it was never put into production then — possibly because of those legs. Launched many years later, it draws its underframe in beneath the top, so the 70.9-inch rectangular surface of solid, nature-oiled FSC (Forest Stewardship Council)-certified oak appears to float while leaving full legroom, finished with practical rounded edges.

Common Questions

Can the C64 be extended?
Yes — the C64 Shaker extension leaf in silk grey fits solid oak tables purchased after September 2024 and veneered oak tables purchased after spring 2022. Earlier tables do not accept the leaf.

Why was the table never produced in 1950?
Possibly because of the cross-shaped legs — a bold detail for the time and difficult to manufacture. FDB Møbler launched the design many years later, legs intact.
