Forum Armchair

Originally designed in 1964 by Robin Day, the Forum Armchair is a defining piece of mid-century modern design. Its solid hardwood frame, crafted with exposed finger-joint detailing and supported by chrome-plated legs mounted to the outside of the frame, was deliberately radical at the time. Rather than concealing construction beneath upholstery, Day made structure the signature — celebrating honesty of materials and form. Nearly 60 years later, Case Furniture has brought the Forum back into production in close collaboration with the Robin and Lucienne Day Foundation, carefully studying original drawings and examples to ensure the reissue remains true to the original design.
While the form is faithful, the construction has been thoughtfully updated for modern living. The frame is now made from solid oak or walnut, replacing tropical hardwood veneers used in the 1960s, and reinforced with a durable steel sub-frame for strength and longevity. Dacron-wrapped foam cushions provide lasting comfort while preserving the original seat angle and proportions. Available exclusively through Case in oak or walnut with leather or bouclé upholstery options, the Forum Armchair is both a design landmark and a highly functional piece — built for everyday use, residential or contract alike.
