High Stool

Space Copenhagen turned this stool from FSC-certified oak or beech and gave it a hand-stitched Sorensen Leather seat.

Mater calls it a New Danish Classic, and the description holds: the organic, minimalist profile has carried the brand since the High Stool became its signature piece. The frame is solid wood in six finishes, from soaped oak through Sirka Grey to black stain, with a steel footrest and a leather seat that softens with use. Which High Stool height fits my counter?
Mater recommends the 27.2-inch seat for kitchen counters around 36 inches and the 29.1-inch seat for bar tables of 40 inches and up. Keep roughly 10 inches between the seat and the counter underside.

Will the leather seat wear well?
Yes. The seat is upholstered in full hides from Denmark's Sorensen Leather and develops a patina rather than a worn patch; occasional conditioning keeps it supple. Wipe spills before they soak in.

Is it steady enough for a bar or cafe?
Mater builds the High Stool for residential and commercial use, with a turned solid-wood frame and a steel footrest. Click felt gliders for hard floors are available from Mater on request.
