Anja Kjær drew these glasses in 1992 as Copenhagen's gift for a royal silver wedding.

The city council commissioned the range from Holmegaard for the silver wedding of the Danish Queen and Prince Consort, and Holmegaard brought it back as a catalog series in spring 2018. Every glass is mouth-blown, drawing on Venetian glass art. These are hand-wash pieces, not dishwasher ones. Parent company Rosendahl Design Group is a Certified B Corp.

Common Questions

Can Regina go in the dishwasher?
No. Holmegaard states that the Regina glasses are not dishwasher safe and should be hand-washed — the fine mouth-blown stems and the decorative work are what a machine cycle damages.

Is 2018 the design year?
No. Anja Kjær designed Regina in 1992; Holmegaard acquired the rights and reintroduced the series in its spring 2018 collection, which is why both dates circulate.

What makes each glass different?
They are mouth-blown, so the stem, bowl, and color depth vary between pieces. Holmegaard describes every Regina champagne glass as unique for exactly that reason.

Founded in 1825 in southern Zealand, Holmegaard is Denmark's oldest glasshouse and one of the country's most storied design names. Each piece is mouth-blown by master glassblowers using traditions passed down for nearly two centuries, with collaborations spanning Per Lütken, Peter Svarrer and Maria Berntsen. Part of Rosendahl Design Group, a Certified B Corp committed to FSC, GOTS, GRS and OEKO-TEX standards across its supply chain.

Hand-wash in warm water with mild detergent and dry immediately with a soft cloth to preserve clarity. Avoid abrupt temperature changes and direct flame. Most Holmegaard and Rosendahl glassware is mouth-blown — small bubbles or seams are part of the craft, not defects. Store upright with space between pieces; do not stack. Dishwasher-safe items are noted on the inner gift box.
