Liuku Pendant

Finnish designer Maija Puoskari turned this pendant from solid linden wood in two shapes, Ball and Drop, with nothing else to it.

Liuku is the quietest thing Mater makes: a lathe-turned linden body in matt lacquer or black stain, a textile-covered cord, and a GU10 socket. Mater, the Copenhagen design house founded in 2006, intends it to hang alone or in rows and clusters, in homes and in hospitality. It is the bare version of the glass-shaded Liuku in our Mater collection, and Mater runs an owner-repair program rather than treating a lamp as disposable.

Common Questions

What bulb does the Liuku Pendant take?
A GU10 cap rated to a maximum 4 watts, LED recommended. The bulb is not included. The textile-covered cord is 78 inches, which gives a generous drop over tables and stairwells.

What is the difference between Ball and Drop?
Only the silhouette. Ball is a rounded sphere 4.7 inches high, Drop tapers to 7.6 inches. Both are turned from solid linden wood and mix well in clusters at staggered heights.

Is the glass shade included?
No. This is the Liuku base on its own. The hand-blown transparent or smoke glass shade is a separate product, sold here as the Liuku Pendant with Shade.
