Lucent Laptop Table

The cantilevered form of the Lucent Laptop Table showcases Matthew Hilton’s ability to apply sculptural principles to a practical brief. Hilton — a three-decade veteran of British design with collaborations spanning SCP, De La Espada, and Habitat, and work held in the permanent collections of the V&A and the Museum of the Home — originally designed the Lucent collection around tempered glass joined at right angles using UV-bonding technology, no visible hardware, no seams. The Laptop Table extends the same logic to a working surface, sized to slide alongside a sofa or armchair so a laptop, book, or coffee can sit at the right working height without dragging a desk into the lounge. Translucent glass panels overlap to create layered shades that shift with the room’s light. Manufactured in Lithuania at the same family-run glassworks where each panel is hand-finished and pressure-tested before assembly.
Available in Bronze Glass, Clear Glass, or Smoke Glass, all in tempered glass with UV-bonded joins. The carefully positioned panels create a discreet inner shelf for a notebook, coaster, or charger, keeping the working surface clear and the cables out of view. The cantilevered base is heavy enough to anchor the piece without a wide footprint, which is what makes it work as a sofa-side laptop perch — it slides under the seat, not against it, then carries the working surface back over your lap at writing height. Ships fully assembled, no flat-pack required. Tempered glass meets TSCA Title VI and California Prop 65 standards. For homes that don’t have space for a dedicated desk but still need a real working surface, the Lucent Laptop Table earns its place by being the side table that doubles as one.
