Lucent Small Side Table

The Lucent Small Side Table by Matthew Hilton brings the collection’s glass-on-glass architecture to a footprint sized for tighter spaces. Hilton, a recipient of the Royal Society of Arts Bursary and a fixture of British design press for three decades, designed Lucent around a single structural insight: tempered glass joined at right angles can carry weight and create depth at the same time. Translucent panels meet at perpendicular angles using UV-bonding technology, with no visible hardware; where the planes overlap, the glass darkens to layer subtle, shifting shades. Curved-edge top and base panels soften the silhouette and prevent the sharp visual cuts of conventional glass tables. Manufactured in Lithuania by the same family-run glassworks that produces the rest of the Lucent range, where panels are hand-finished and the bonded joins are pressure-tested before each unit ships fully assembled.
Available in Bronze Glass, Clear Glass, or Smoke Glass, all in tempered glass with UV-bonded joins. The compact footprint is sized for the awkward gaps where most side tables don’t fit — between a sofa arm and the wall, beside a reading chair, or as a bedside surface in a small bedroom. The right-angle construction creates a natural inner section for a book, a glass of water, or a small candle, keeping necessities close at hand without requiring a drawer or visible storage hardware. Tempered glass meets TSCA Title VI and California Prop 65 standards; the piece ships fully assembled and is heavy enough to stay put without anchoring. Lucent earns its place by doing more than its size suggests — storage and surface in a piece that disappears into the room when you don’t need it, and reflects light interestingly when you do.
