Mondrian's grid, rebuilt in solid oak at bookshelf scale.

The M rack from Ethnicraft translates Piet Mondrian's famous verticals and horizontals into open oak shelving, made in Serbia. Choose natural hardwax-oiled oak in the 54.5-inch mid-height, or natural, black-tinted varnished oak, or teak in the 86-inch tower; finished on both faces, it shelves against a wall or divides a room.

Yes — the grid is open front-to-back and finished on both sides, so books and objects read from either face while light passes through.

How do the compartments hold books?
The Mondrian-style grid creates cells of varied proportions — tall slots for art books, wide runs for novels — with picture frames and objects breaking up the rows.

For regular dusting, use a dry cloth. For cleaning or in case of a spill, use a damp cloth and natural soap. Wipe in the direction of the grain. Do not use soap containing detergent or other chemicals. Dry with a soft clean cloth to prevent spotting.

We always recommend protecting surfaces with coasters, mousepads or placemats, as extreme and repetitive daily use or heat can damage the finish.
