Merge Lounge Chair
Studio Segers designed the Merge lounge chair for Ethnicraft's 2026 collection: a cocooning swivel chair upholstered in a fabric that is 48 percent recycled fiber.
The Merge from Ethnicraft is a deep, rounded armchair on a swivel-return base, which means it turns to follow a conversation and glides back to center when you stand. The Loam upholstery, woven and dyed in Romania, blends 39 percent recycled polyester and 9 percent recycled cotton with acrylic and wool for a structured, tweedy hand, and is rated to 60,000 Martindale rubs. The base is Dark Bronze powder-coated metal over a plywood frame with webbing suspension. Made in Romania, it meets California TB 117-2013 and the fabric is OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified.

Common Questions
Does the Merge lounge chair swivel?
Yes. It sits on a swivel-return base, so it rotates freely and springs back to its resting position when you get up. The base has nylon glides and needs no assembly.
How does the Loam fabric wear?
Loam is rated to 60,000 Martindale rubs, well above the 30,000 usually quoted for heavy domestic use, with pilling grade 3 to 4 and lightfastness grade 5. Some pilling on a wool blend is normal and lifts off with a fabric shaver.
Is the matching footstool included?
No. The Merge footstool is sold separately in the same Loam fabric on the same Dark Bronze base; it is 25 by 21 inches and 17 inches high, level with the chair's seat cushion.
