Benoit Loos and Philippe Delaisse founded Ethnicraft in Antwerp more than 30 years ago. It makes solid oak and teak furniture in its own factories, and its Re-Loved programme refurbishes pieces for a second life.

Alain van Havre, whose creative process leans on music, layered leftover wood pieces into the rhythmic facade of Ethnicraft's Mosaic sideboard: mahogany doors on a varnished teak body and legs, made in Indonesia, in 67-inch (3-door) and 89.5-inch (4-door) versions.

What is the story behind the Mosaic pattern?
A happy accident — van Havre began layering wood offcuts left over from Ethnicraft's factory production, and the resulting rhythm of pieces became the sideboard's signature facade.
Why mix mahogany and teak?
The mahogany door fronts give the mosaic its tonal variety, while the teak body and legs provide the stable, warm-grained architecture around it — both varnished for daily use.
