Port Rectangular Coffee Table

Designed by Jenkins & Uhnger — the Oslo-based design partnership of Trevor Jenkins and Christine Uhnger, whose work has been featured at Stockholm Furniture Fair and 3 Days of Design Copenhagen — the Port Rectangular Coffee Table draws on the visual lightness and structural strength of Japan’s Shinto temple architecture. The proportions are deliberate: a clean rectangular top, gently chamfered along every edge to soften the cut and remove the harshness of conventional plank-on-leg coffee tables. Sturdy cylindrical legs replace the more typical square section, lending the piece a quiet refinement, while a discreet lower shelf adds a layer of utility without disrupting the silhouette. The result is a coffee table that reads as architectural rather than functional, which is what Jenkins & Uhnger consistently aim for: pieces that anchor a room without announcing themselves.
Available in Oak or Walnut, with the matching timber used throughout frame, top, and shelf — not the Black Stain finish that Case also produces. The lower shelf is generous enough for a stack of art books, a tray of glassware, or seasonal magazines, but sits low enough not to break the piece’s clean horizontal line. Assembly is required and clearly documented; the joinery uses replaceable components, in line with Case’s standard repairability approach across the catalog. Finished with a clear, low-VOC sealer that lets the natural grain read clearly and can be re-oiled annually. TSCA Title VI and California Prop 65 compliant. For living rooms that want a coffee table to do real work without dominating the seating arrangement, Port’s chamfered restraint is the point — every visible cut is softened, and the cylindrical legs lend a quiet rhythm without drawing the eye.
