Snøhetta designed the Social range for Varier in 2023 as a single moulded piece: glass-fibre-reinforced polypropylene, 55–75% of it post-consumer recycled, 65.6% in the Tilt by Varier's own environmental product declaration. It is designed in Norway and made in Poland, assembled without glue so it can be taken apart for recycling. Sold as a pair in one color, and the price shown is for both chairs — see the range in our Varier collection.

Common Questions

How does the tilt work?
There is no mechanism. The base curves, so leaning shifts the whole chair forward or back and lets it return — the movement people make anyway through a long meal, without a lever to set.

Can the Social Tilt go outside?
Varier states the Tilt is UV-resistant and can be used outdoors. Its warranty, though, covers indoor residential use and excludes damage from sun, temperature, and damp, so treat outdoor use as seasonal.

What is it made from?
One moulded piece of glass-fibre-reinforced polypropylene, 55–75% post-consumer recycled and 65.6% for the Tilt. Assembled without glue, disassemblable for recycling, and tested to 242 lbs.
