Paul Newman founded Case in 2005. Matthew Hilton and Terence Woodgate, both Royal Designers for Industry, have designed for it since the first collection, and it reissues Robin Day's 1964 Forum sofa with the Robin and Lucienne Day Foundation.

Solas Armchair
Teak and stainless steel — the materials yachts rely on — form Matthew Hilton's quietly durable outdoor armchair.
Hilton drew on nautical design for the Solas series, pairing a stainless steel frame with curved solid teak slats that shrug off weather and stack for easy storage. Like the rest of the Case Furniture outdoor range, it moves between garden, terrace, and indoor use without changing character.

Can the Solas Armchair stay outside all year?
Yes. Teak's natural oils and the stainless steel frame handle rain and sun, and the wood gradually silvers outdoors. Clean once a season with lukewarm water and a non-abrasive sponge or soft brush.
Is the Solas Armchair stackable?
Yes — the armchair stacks for easy storage when not in use, which makes clearing a terrace or packing away at the end of the season straightforward.
Will the teak keep its golden color?
Only with upkeep. Left outdoors, teak turns from golden to silver-grey over time. Regular cleaning slows the change, and dedicated teak cleaners can restore the original tone if you prefer it.
