Stairs Column

Alain van Havre stacked angles until the shelf tower seemed to move — 80 inches of aligned geometry.

The Stairs Column from Ethnicraft distances itself from static storage: perfectly aligned angles create shifting volume as you walk past. It is made in solid oak with a hardwax oil finish or brown-tainted, FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified teak with varnish.

What is the Stairs Column used for?
It is a vertical display rack — books, objects, and plants stagger up its angled shelves, turning a 17.5-inch floor footprint into 80 inches of display.

Should it be secured to the wall?
It stands freely, but for a tall, narrow tower we recommend an anti-tip anchor, especially on rugs or with children at home.

Oak or teak?
Oak is lighter in tone with a matte oiled surface; the teak version is brown-tainted, varnished, FSC-certified, and about 12 pounds lighter.

Care Guide +

For regular dusting, use a dry cloth. For cleaning or in case of a spill, use a damp cloth and natural soap. Wipe in the direction of the grain. Do not use soap containing detergent or other chemicals. Dry with a soft clean cloth to prevent spotting.

We always recommend protecting surfaces with coasters, mousepads or placemats, as extreme and repetitive daily use or heat can damage the finish.
