Tiptoe SSD Wood Dining Chair

The SSD Chair — Simple, Strong, Durable — is one of the Tiptoe design studio's most considered pieces. Designed in Paris and produced in Lithuania, it was developed with a single ambition: an everyday dining chair that minimizes its environmental footprint at every stage of its life. The frame is powder-coated steel, the seat and back are FSC/PEFC-certified European oak (PEFC/07-31-60), and the entire chair assembles in about two minutes with the supplied Allen key. It stacks, which matters in restaurants and small apartments alike. Tiptoe is a Certified B Corp (2021) and manufactures across roughly 20 European partner workshops; the SSD pulls together the studio's two structural materials — recyclable steel and responsibly managed oak — in a chair that's been chosen for projects at Hermès, the Centre Pompidou and the Musée d'Orsay. Dimensions: W17.3 × D21.3 × H33.5 in with a seat height of approximately 18.9 in — standard dining height. Weight 12-15 lbs depending on color. Available in three powder-coated finishes paired with a natural oak seat and back: Graphite Black, Eucalyptus Grey, and Cream White. The chair is stackable, contract-rated for commercial use, and carries a 2-year manufacturer warranty. Care: dust the oak with a soft dry cloth, wipe spills immediately, and apply a neutral furniture wax annually. For the steel, a damp cloth and mild detergent are sufficient; avoid abrasives, solvents, and alcohol-based cleaners. The chair is fully demountable at end of life so the steel and oak can be recycled by material — the kind of small, quiet decision that defines the Tiptoe approach.
