A 29.5-inch seat, a molded recycled-plastic shell, and a steel frame that comes apart when you move.

This is the counter-height version of Thibault Faverie's SSDr, scaled for bar tables of 41 to 45 in and built on the same modular powder-coated steel system. Polypropylene was chosen because it holds pigment, takes knocks in hard-wear settings, and is widely recycled at end of life, when the shell and frame separate into single streams. Tiptoe is a Certified B Corp with a score of 90.6 — the wood bar chair is in the Tiptoe collection.

Tiptoe specifies bar tables of 41 to 45 in for the 29.5 in seat height. A standard 36 in kitchen island wants a shorter counter stool; Tiptoe also makes this chair with a lower seat.

How much assembly is involved?
A few minutes. The recycled-plastic shell mounts to the modular steel frame with the supplied fixings and unscrews the same way, so the plastic and steel can be recycled separately at end of life.

How do I clean it?
A damp cloth with mild detergent handles both the polypropylene shell and the powder-coated steel. Avoid abrasives, solvents and alcohol-based cleaners, which dull the finish.
