Tiptoe SSDr Recycled Plastic Dining Chair

The SSDr is the recycled-plastic sibling of Tiptoe's SSD chair — same powder-coated steel frame, same stacking geometry, but with the seat and back molded from recycled polypropylene rather than oak. Designed by the Tiptoe design studio in Paris and produced in Lithuania, the chair was the result of roughly 18 months of development in a category where recycled plastic is still rare. Polypropylene was chosen because it accepts pigment well, resists impact, and is itself widely recyclable at end of life — qualities that matter when the long-term goal is to keep the chair out of landfill. The steel frame uses the same modular system as the wood SSD: assembles in about two minutes with an Allen key, stacks, and demounts for transport or recycling. Tiptoe is a Certified B Corp (2021) and works with roughly 20 European manufacturing partners; the recycled-plastic components are produced in partner facilities across Belgium, France, the UK and the Netherlands.

Dimensions match the wood SSD: W17.3 × D21.3 × H33.5 in with a seat height of approximately 18.9 in — standard dining height. Weight is roughly 12.6 lbs. Available in three powder-coated finishes with the seat color matched to the frame: Graphite Black, Eucalyptus Grey, and Cream White. Stackable, contract-rated for commercial use, 2-year manufacturer warranty. The recycled polypropylene seat is dishwasher-cleanable in a pinch but a damp cloth with mild detergent is the everyday option — avoid abrasives and solvents. Steel frame wipes down the same way. End-of-life, both the polypropylene and the steel are separable and recyclable as single-material streams. A chair that proves recycled plastic can be beautiful, useful, and durable.
