One marble block, three rituals — sticks, cones, and essential-oil stone all rest on Oleg Pugachev's Monolith.

The Hamburg-based designer cut the cylindrical holder straight out of the rectangular block, leaving a hollow that stores the piece upright — production and material optimization made visible. Counterweight and friction hold incense sticks at the right angle, while the plate burns cones or carries a lava-rock oil diffuser. Quiet function from the WOUD collection.

How does the Monolith hold an incense stick?
The cylindrical holder — cut from the block itself — uses counterweight and friction to grip the stick at the proper burning angle, with the marble plate below catching ash.

Can it burn incense cones too?
Yes. The flat plate provides a platform for cones, or set a piece of lava rock on it with a few drops of essential oil for flame-free scent.
