Arkiv Book End
Cast in solid concrete, Ella Shegai's Arkiv borrows its arches from classical architecture and its authority from sheer mass.
The Norwegian designer, trained in art history, balanced curves against blocks so the bookend catches light and throws shadow like a miniature facade. Stand it upright to hold a shelf of books, or lay it flat as a paper press on a desk — a small monument within the WOUD collection.

Is the Arkiv Book End heavy enough for hardcovers?
Yes — it is cast from solid concrete, so a single piece holds a full run of hardcovers upright without sliding. Felt or a soft cloth under it protects delicate shelf finishes.
Can it be used as anything other than a bookend?
Yes. Laid horizontally it works as a paper press or paperweight, and on its own it reads as a small architectural sculpture for a shelf or windowsill.
