Danish studio Says Who designed the Tension Lounge Chair to mark Bent Hansen's 70th anniversary, stretching natural saddle leather across a black steel frame.

Tension is a study in restraint from Bent Hansen, the Aalborg upholsterer founded in 1948. The frame is black texture-coated steel, and the seat and back are single spans of saddle leather pulled taut between its rails, so the leather does the work a cushion normally would. Saddle leather is left to age: Bent Hansen notes that it patinates over time, darkening and gaining a sheen with use and light. The chair that arrives pale will look richer after a few years of use.
