Sweep Square Basket

Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen MDD designed the Sweep basket for Cane-line, and each one is handmade from natural rattan by skilled weavers, for use indoors only.

This is the square Sweep, 16.6 inches across, with soft curves that keep it from looking boxy; a round version also exists. Cane-line suggests it for magazines, blankets or children's toys, and at about 2.2 pounds it moves easily between rooms. It is woven in Cane-line's own Indonesian production, close to where rattan grows. Natural rattan is an indoor material, so Sweep belongs inside. More from Cane-line, the Danish company founded in 1987.

Common Questions

Can I use the Sweep basket outdoors or on a porch?
No. Sweep is natural rattan, which Cane-line rates for indoor use only. Keep it out of rain and weather; inside, it needs nothing more than an occasional wipe with a damp cloth.

What fits inside?
It measures 16.6 in square and 18.2 in tall, sized for the things Cane-line suggests: magazines, folded blankets and throws, or children's toys. It is an open basket with no lid.

How do I clean it?
Dust it with a damp cloth when needed. Once a year, Cane-line recommends cleaning rattan with white soap flakes dissolved in lukewarm water, applied with a cloth, then letting it air dry.
