Solid Pendant

Terence Woodgate, Royal Designer for Industry since 2003 and held in the Victoria and Albert Museum's permanent collection, designed the Solid Pendant for Case around a patented adjustable lampholder.

The name is literal: a solid body of natural material around a solid-state light source. Each shade is turned from oak, walnut or black stained oak, or from Carrara or Nero Marquina marble, which glows softly at the base when lit. The rounded inner edge is the Case Solid signature, and a patented support lets the shade be fitted after wiring and adjusted to hang perfectly vertical.

Common Questions

What bulb does it take, and is it dimmable?
One GU10 LED, 8 W maximum; no halogen. Case specifies a Megaman PAR16 5.5 W at 2800 K and 500 lumens, dimmable from 100 to 5 percent on an LED-compatible dimmer.

Is the ceiling rose included, and can the cable be shortened?
Yes. A 4.57-inch steel ceiling rose that hides all fixings is included, with a 78.7-inch (2 m) cable you cut to length at installation and secure in the cord grip.

Is it hardwired or plug-in?
Hardwired. It is a Class 1 fitting for a 120 V circuit, wired through push-in connectors in the ceiling bracket and earthed; Case recommends a qualified electrician. IP20-rated, for dry indoor rooms only.
