Valentine Bedside Table

Matthew Hilton, elected a Royal Designer for Industry in 2005, designed the Valentine range for Case, and this bedside table is its most compact piece.

Hilton has spent four decades designing furniture people live with, from the 1991 Balzac armchair for SCP to his long collaboration with Case. The Valentine Bedside Table carries the range's signature: legs that taper and splay slightly outward, lifting the body so sight lines stay open and the vacuum gets underneath. The base is solid oak, the carcass and fronts oak veneer, all sealed in a clear, non-yellowing matte polyurethane lacquer. Two open-fronted shelves hold the book, the glasses and the phone. It arrives fully assembled.

Does the Valentine Bedside Table need assembly?
No. It ships fully assembled, straight from the box to the bedside. At 35 lbs it is manageable for one person, and the raised base makes it easy to slide into place and clean around.

Does it have a drawer?
No. Behind the open front are two shelves, one above the other, for books, glasses and a phone. There is nothing to pull or slide, so it stays quiet at night and simple to keep tidy.

Is the Walnut Stain finish real walnut?
The Walnut Stain finish is a stain applied over the oak, not walnut timber, so you get oak's grain in a deeper brown tone. Oak is left natural under the same clear lacquer. Both finishes match the Valentine Bed.
