Earth Stool

Danish architect Eva Harlou press-molds this stool's seat from coffee-shell waste sourced from roaster BKI.

The technique, developed with the Danish Technological Institute, binds coffee shells with recycled post-consumer waste into a smooth, pebble-like Matek seat on a gunmetal powder-coated steel frame. Each stool diverts about 1,200 grams of waste — a small, daily argument for the circular thinking behind our Mater collection.

The 27.2-inch stool suits kitchen counters around 36 inches; the 29.1-inch version fits bar counters of 40 inches and up. Allow roughly 10 inches between the seat and the counter underside.

Is the coffee-waste seat durable?
Yes. The seat is press-molded Matek — coffee shells bound with recycled post-consumer waste — developed with the Danish Technological Institute, and it mounts to a powder-coated steel frame built for daily use.
