Eternity Swivel Chair

Space Copenhagen's waste-material shell turns a full, quiet circle on a base of 96 percent recycled aluminum.

The Eternity Swivel keeps the collection's soft Matek shell, post-consumer e-waste plastic recycled with coffee-shell or wood fiber waste, and sets it on a five-star swivel base cast from 96 percent recycled aluminum. Choose the black-painted or the polished finish; either moves easily between desk work and conversation. Mater, the Copenhagen design house founded in 2006, makes it in Denmark from Matek pressed in a hydropower-run facility, and each piece in the Eternity series diverts about 4,330 grams of waste. It is the office chair in our Mater collection.

Common Questions

Does the Eternity Swivel work as a desk chair?
For shorter sessions, yes. It swivels smoothly but has no casters and no height adjustment, so for all-day desk work choose the version with wheels. The 18.9-inch seat suits a standard-height desk.

Is the aluminum base really 96 percent recycled?
Yes. Mater specifies the swivel base as 96 percent recycled aluminum, in a black-painted or polished finish, which keeps the base consistent with the waste-to-material story of the Matek shell.

What is the difference between the black and polished bases?
Finish only. Both are the same 96 percent recycled aluminum five-star base; black is painted, polished is left bright. The polished base carries a higher price and reads warmer against wood floors.
