FDB Møbler began in 1942, when Børge Mogensen set out to make furniture that was both beautiful and affordable. It still makes his designs alongside new ones, and every piece is tested at the Danish Technological Institute.

A square 31.5-inch top makes this 1959 Bækmark table the version for smaller sofas and tighter rooms.
Jørgen Bækmark designed the D33 while head of design at FDB Møbler, and its proportions have needed no updating since. The nature-oiled solid oak carries fine curves borrowed from his J80 dining chairs, and the whole table assembles and disassembles with the same quiet elegance.

Is the square D33 the same design as the long one?
Yes — same 1959 Bækmark design, same nature-oiled solid oak and 20.4-inch height; only the top changes, from a 47.2-inch rectangle to a 31.5-inch square.
Where do the curves come from?
Bækmark repeated the fine curves of his J80 dining chairs in the D33's details, part of the calm, harmonious language he brought as FDB's head of design.
