J45 Chair

The ideas behind Børge Mogensen's old J45 dining chair seem completely relevant and in step with the times today. The chair reflects the shapes of nature and the material wood and combines stylish design with comfort. It was an almost revolutionary idea when FDB Møbler launched the J45 in 1950. The chair also stands out from what Børge Mogensen later became known for: the slightly square chairs and sofas. The characteristic backrest, which forms an organic shell, leans back slightly and springs slightly, making the chair very comfortable. An iconic piece that both shows the interplay between nature and design and tells the story of the early work of one of our most famous furniture designers. A stylish choice for the dining room.

Børge Mogensen (1914–1972) was the founding Creative Manager of FDB Møbler in 1942 and one of Denmark's most influential furniture designers. A student of Kaare Klint, he championed simple, functional, and durable wooden furniture—making beautiful design accessible to everyday families.
