M16 Ermelunden Bench with backrest
The backrest holds two angles — one for sitting upright at the table, one for leaning back with coffee.
Børge Mogensen studied how people actually sit before shaping the M16 Ermelunden bench in 1965; its dual-angle backrest supports both postures. In nature-oiled pine with the series' wide anti-sink feet, it is made by FDB Møbler, the studio Mogensen led from its 1942 founding.

Common Questions
What is special about the backrest?
Mogensen shaped it with two different angles, so it supports you when sitting up straight at a table and again when you settle into a more relaxed lean.
Did Mogensen use this furniture himself?
Yes — he kept Ermelunden pieces in his private garden in Gentofte and at his holiday home near Limfjorden, which says more than any review.
