X1 Æbletoft Apple box

The broad shallow crate of the family — seventeen inches of oak for the things that sprawl.

Size 4 of Monica Ritterband's X1 Æbletoft apple boxes (17.6 x 13.2 x 6 in) is the widest low format in the series, cut from untreated solid oak like its four siblings. Designed in 2020 for FDB Møbler, a modern take on the Danish harvest crate.

Common Questions

What suits the wide, low format?
Shoes by the door, produce in the pantry, magazines under a coffee table, or toys that need scooping rather than sorting.

How strong is the solid oak?
Strong enough to stack loaded — these are working crates in the harvest tradition, not display-only decor.

Care Guide +

FDB Møbler furniture is crafted from FSC-certified wood, powder-coated steel, and OEKO-TEX textiles. Keep away from direct heat and sunlight. Dust with a soft cloth; clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. For lacquered surfaces, avoid harsh chemicals. For oiled wood, re-oil periodically. For upholstery, vacuum regularly and address spills promptly. Lift furniture rather than dragging across floors.
