Fermob Studie Side Chair

School-chair nostalgia, rebuilt in all-weather aluminum — right down to the two playful dots punched in the backrest.

Tristan Lohner based the Studie on the classroom chairs of French childhood, then re-engineered them for the terrace: a tubular aluminum frame with curved aluminum seat and back, stackable eight high. Powder-coated at Fermob's Thoissey factory, it is rated for seaside exposure.

Common Questions

Can the Studie chair handle coastal weather?
Yes — the all-aluminum build will not rust, and Fermob rates the finish for seaside environments. Rinse off salt spray with fresh water occasionally and it will keep its color for years.

Is it stackable?
Yes, up to eight chairs stack for off-season storage or quick terrace clearing, and glide pads protect the frames from scratching as they stack.

Clean metal surfaces when debris accumulates using a soft cloth and mild soapy water; rinse and dry thoroughly. Remove bird droppings, sap, and leaves promptly to prevent surface damage. For scratches or chips in the powder coating, use Fermob touch-up spray or paint pen to prevent corrosion. Do not cover with non-breathable materials; allow good air circulation. Store in a dry location during extended non-use or raise furniture on blocks to avoid moisture retention around feet.
