Sonja Djønne and Thoralf Lian started Heymat in 2016 to make a doormat that works in Norway's wet weather and looks like it belongs in the home. Each mat is designed with leading designers and uses recycled PET.

Hand Doormat
Hand-drawn lines echo travertine limestone across Kristine Five Melvær's soft grey mat, softening the grid beneath them.
Hand is named for the limestone it reflects: a beige-grey ground with fine white detailing, drawn by hand to blur the line between textile and artwork. Norwegian brand Heymat weaves it from 100% recycled PET with a rubber backing that stops moisture at the door, and each handcrafted mat varies slightly in tone and size.

Hand is made for indoor entryways: the recycled PET pile absorbs moisture and traps grit while the rubber backing protects floors. For covered outdoor spots, choose Heymat's all-weather mats instead.
