Nestled amidst the fjords and mountains of Northern Norway, Heymat began as a spark of ingenuity within a family business led by Sonja Djønne and Thoralf Lian. Fueled by the harsh, wet weather of their homeland and the cluttered hallways of family life, they saw a need for a doormat that wasn’t just functional, but also a symbol of homecoming – a nod to the Norwegian 'heimatt'.

Heymat stands at the crossroads of robust industrial utility and elegant design. Since our inception in 2016, each mat in our collection narrates a unique story, born from a collaboration with leading designers. Created in collaboration with Swedish designer Tekla Evelina Severin (Teklan), this version of the original Mix mat brings a fresh 70s-inspired palette of earthy pastels, influenced by gemstones and Mediterranean tones. It’s a warm, contemporary take on Kristine Five Melvær’s iconic geometric design.

Made for indoor use, Mix Teklan combines aesthetic impact with everyday practicality. The soft textile surface is crafted from 100% recycled PET, while the non-slip rubber backing traps dirt, absorbs moisture, and protects flooring from water.

Handcrafted with care, each mat has unique variations in tone and texture evidence of true artisanal production.

Vacuum the mat regularly.

Wash on hot when needed. Use a bleach-free detergent and vacuum the mat before washing. Dry the mat in the tumble dryer or hang up to dry. You can extend the life of your mat by regularly machine washing; we recommend that you do this 2–4 times a year.
