Benoit Loos and Philippe Delaisse founded Ethnicraft in Antwerp more than 30 years ago. It makes solid oak and teak furniture in its own factories, and its Re-Loved programme refurbishes pieces for a second life.

Mortise Rack
Ethnicraft developed the Mortise rack with Juntos Projects for its 2026 collection, and named it for the joint you can see at every intersection: a through-mortise in solid mahogany.
The Mortise rack from Ethnicraft is low, open shelving that makes its construction the decoration. Each upright passes through the shelves in a visible mortise-and-tenon, the way a joiner would build a workshop rack, and the compartments are a generous 12.5 inches high. Juntos Projects, the studio Ethnicraft partnered with on this range, works from a preference for natural materials and honest construction. Two lengths: 69 inches with six compartments and 103 inches with nine, both 32.5 inches high and 16 deep. Anti-tip hardware and adjustable glides are included.

Common Questions
Will records or large books fit the compartments?
Yes. Each compartment is 12.5 inches high and 16 inches deep, so 12-inch vinyl sleeves stand upright with room to flip through, and oversized art books lie flat.
Does the Mortise rack need assembly or wall fixing?
It arrives fully assembled. Two sets of anti-tip hardware are included and we recommend fitting them, particularly with children in the house; you drill the wall bracket positions to suit your wall.
How much can it hold?
Ethnicraft rates each shelf at 44 pounds, the 69-inch rack at 265 pounds overall and the 103-inch rack at 397 pounds. Spread heavy loads across compartments rather than stacking one.
