Original 1227 Wall Light
George Carwardine's Original 1227 has been in Anglepoise's range since 1935; this compact wall light, added in 2012, puts its signature steel shade on a short arm beside a bed or desk.
Carwardine was an automotive engineer whose spring formula produced the first Anglepoise lamps. The wall light keeps the 1227 shade, chrome-plated fittings and gloss Jet Black paint on a steel arm that reaches 12 inches from the wall. The shade rotates to aim the light, and a push switch sits on the wall plate. The rest of the 1227 family is in our Anglepoise collection.

Common Questions
Is it hardwired or plug-in?
Hardwired. The US version mounts over a junction box with the color-matched kit in the box and is wired in, not plugged in. Use the push switch on the wall plate, or have it wired to a wall switch.
Does it come with a bulb?
No bulb is included. The lamp holder is E26 and Anglepoise rates it for one bulb of up to 10 watts LED or 15 watts CFL, so order a bulb alongside the light.
Can I aim the light?
Yes. The steel shade rotates to direct light where you need it, and the arm holds it 12 inches from the wall, compact enough for a bedside, a hallway or a reading chair.
