Original 315 Desk Lamp
Anglepoise first built the 315 in the 1940s, adapting George Carwardine's Original 1227 to light navigators' chart tables aboard long-range maritime patrol flying boats in the Second World War.
Known inside the company as Project 315, it was a precision tool for reading maps at night, and the reissue keeps that purpose. A polished, lacquered aluminum shade takes a 7W GU10 spotlight bulb for a brighter, more directional beam than other Anglepoise lamps, suited to close work and reading. Black nickel-plated fittings and a cast iron base complete it, and this Navigation Edition ships with a notebook and pencil. It joins our Anglepoise lamps, from a certified B Corp.

Common Questions
What bulb does it use?
A GU10 spotlight bulb, and a 7W GU10 comes in the box. Anglepoise chose it for a brighter, more directional beam than its other lamps, so light falls exactly where you are working.
How do you switch it on?
With an inline switch on the 98 inch twisted black fabric cable. It plugs into an outlet, so there is nothing to hardwire, and the long cable lets you place it away from the wall.
What comes in the box?
The lamp, its 7W GU10 bulb and, for this Navigation Edition, a notebook and pencil, a nod to the chart tables the original 315 lit for navigators during the Second World War.
