Benoit Loos and Philippe Delaisse founded Ethnicraft in Antwerp more than 30 years ago. It makes solid oak and teak furniture in its own factories, and its Re-Loved programme refurbishes pieces for a second life.

PI Book Ends
Books need an anchor; these hand-made solid-wood forms give them one with sculptural weight to spare.
The PI Book Ends belong to Ethnicraft's PI collection, designed by Alain van Havre to honor the strength, curves, and lines of the wood itself. Each pair is hand-made in Indonesia in varnished solid mahogany, dark-brown mahogany or European-sourced sycamore, every piece finished by hand so its character stays intact.

Are the PI Book Ends heavy enough to hold real books?
Yes — at 4.4 pounds of solid wood the pair anchors a full run of hardcovers on a shelf or desk without sliding.
How do mahogany and sycamore versions differ?
The form is the same; mahogany brings a deep, warm reddish-brown while the sycamore edition is paler and lighter-grained — both are hand-finished, so each piece is unique.
Do they need special care?
No — the varnish seals the wood, so an occasional dusting with a soft cloth is all they ask.
