Paul Newman founded Case in 2005. Matthew Hilton and Terence Woodgate, both Royal Designers for Industry, have designed for it since the first collection, and it reissues Robin Day's 1964 Forum sofa with the Robin and Lucienne Day Foundation.

Matthew Hilton built the Solas series for Case Furniture from the materials of yacht decks, and the square table is its most sociable compact format — one seat per side, no wasted footprint. It suits city patios and decks where a long table would crowd the space.

How many chairs fit around it?
Four — one Solas Side Chair or Armchair per side, with room to pull chairs back. The 38.6-inch square also works as a generous table for two with serving space.
Can it stay out in winter?
Yes. Teak's oil content and stainless steel's corrosion resistance make the table suitable for year-round outdoor use. Expect natural silvering of the wood over time.
How do the slats handle spills and dirt?
Gaps between slats drain rain and rinse water straight through. For buildup, wash with lukewarm water, mild detergent, and a soft-bristle brush — never abrasive pads or solvents.
