Sonja Djønne and Thoralf Lian started Heymat in 2016 to make a doormat that works in Norway's wet weather and looks like it belongs in the home. Each mat is designed with leading designers and uses recycled PET.

Spot is Kristine Five Melvær's most playful entry mat: soft, airy tones in Spot Blue, vivid circles in Spot Black. The 0.3 in pile is woven from 100% recycled plastic over a non-slip nitrile rubber backing that absorbs moisture and traps dirt indoors, and every mat is handcrafted, so tone and texture vary slightly from one to the next. Vacuum or shake it regularly to lift trapped sand and grit. Heymat's wash guidance varies by range — indoor mats machine wash at 140°F, all-weather mats are rinse-only — so follow the care label supplied with your mat.
Is Spot an indoor mat?
Yes. The soft recycled-plastic pile absorbs moisture and traps dirt inside the door, and the nitrile rubber backing keeps it from sliding. For an exposed doorstep, choose one of Heymat's all-weather mats.
