Tacet Dining Table

Alain van Havre's Tacet dining table takes its name from a state of rest and is built for long dinners and long workdays alike: a brushed, dark brown FSC-certified teak top on a slim black metal base.

The top is solid teak, tinted dark brown, brushed and sealed with varnish, so everyday spills wipe away. Ethnicraft pairs it with sleek black metal legs designed to make the most of the seating along each side, and credits the design with a light ambiance. Made in Indonesia for Ethnicraft.

Common Questions

Which size should I choose?
Both are 39.5 inches deep and 30 inches high. The 78.5-inch table suits most dining rooms; the 94.5-inch version adds 16 inches of length. Ethnicraft doesn't publish a seat count, so allow about 24 inches of edge per diner.

Will the varnished top stand up to everyday meals?
Yes. Ethnicraft varnishes the teak so spills can be wiped away, but wipe them promptly and use placemats and coasters under hot dishes, since heat and repeated wear can still mark the finish.

Does it need assembly?
Yes, some. Ethnicraft publishes step-by-step assembly instructions for the Tacet. The table weighs 124.8 to 138 pounds depending on length, so plan on two people to unpack and position it.

Care Guide +

Dust with a dry cloth. For cleaning or a spill, use a damp cloth with natural soap, wipe in the direction of the grain, then dry with a soft clean cloth. Do not use detergents or chemical cleaners. Use coasters, placemats or a mat under hot, wet or heavy objects, as heat and repeated daily wear can mark the varnish. Clean the metal base with a soft dry cloth, or mild soap and warm water; never use steel wool, acids or bleach. Lift the table rather than dragging it.
